Hello September!

In my remote corner of the planet ...
9.1.14  6:30 am
... September announced her arrival with a beautiful day!  It promised to be a wonderful dillydally day ...  I had invited a few friends over to celebrate a birthday with an afternoon tea party!
One must have crisp sugar cookies when sipping tea!  I tried a new recipe that had toffee bits added to the dough ... delicious!
And every tea party must have savory sandwiches.  I began by toasting rye bread and cut the flower shape with a cookie cutter.
A cheese spread recipe from one of my southern cooking cookbooks was used ... fresh ingredients put together in the food processor!  This recipe is definitely a keeper!
It wouldn't be a birthday party without a cake!  Blueberry Upside Down cake is a favorite here in DillyDallydom!  Yep ... Brother, Girlfriend and Mr. DD showed up later in the evening for some! ;-)
I wanted to dress up the table a bit, so I made new napkins!  I used Terry Atkinson's Natalie's Napkin pattern.  Terrific pattern with great results!
Time to brew the tea!
Everything was ready!
Birthday Girl in the middle!
The guests arrived!  The four of us have been friends for nearly 30 years ... lots of history ... many belly laughs ... sincere fondness for one another.
9.1.14  Around 9:00 pm
What a wonderful way to welcome September!
Do what you love.  Celebrate friendship!  Do dillydally!

The crocheted doilies look perfect under to cups! What type of tea was served?

    1. Carol ... their are so many choices of tea ... it is harder than choosing a wine! I worried about how it would taste with the different savory and sweet food. I eventually went with a simple decaffinated tea!
