8/1-Aitkin Quilts & Fabric-Aitkin, MN

Monday morning greeted us with rain ... we're used to that ... we almost thought we were back in Cordova!
Our parking spot at the hotel in Duluth was "Q" ... we giggled about that quite a bit ... how appropriate!  We left early and enjoyed an 1.5 hour drive to Aitkin, Minnesota where we enjoyed a terrific breakfast in a local diner!

Aitkin has a great downtown area, it was easy to find Aitkin's Quilts and Fabric!
Their Mn Shop Hop quilt was made and designed by 20 year old Kate Campbell!  She was such a joy ... it is so inspiring to see the next generation of quilters excel!  She has such talent and is following her passion ... what an exciting future this young woman has!
The owner shared with us that she opened a year ago with only 150 bolts of fabric.  Boy ... has her shop grown!  We would have never guessed ... it was filled with samples, fabric, notions, and loads of personality!
We loved their man cave ... a safe place for the men who share their lives with a quilter!
It has everything they need to relax and enjoy their wife's quilt shopping experience.  But the best part is that it was in a tent ... you know, one that has walls ... that way they can't see what their wives are buying! ;-)  Yep ... this shop owner is smart!  Tee-Hee!
We had a great time here ... the owner and her staff were wonderful!  It will be fun to watch this shop has it continues to grow and blossom!  If you're near Aitkin ... stop in ... it will leave you inspired!
