"QBee & Me" - Day 3 - June 5

Gruber's Quilt Shop - Shop 4

We arrived to the final and eleventh shop of our "QBee & Me" MN Shop Hop 30 minutes before they closed!  We could tell that we live in a community with only 50 miles of roads ... we were horrible at "guesstimating" how long or far it was from one point to another! ;-)
Diane and I knew we were in trouble as soon as we got to the front door ... too funny!
... fat quarter heaven ...
... yes ... tons going on ...
... I look at all the samples ... all the neutrals ... scrap quilts are calling, no they're just begging to be made!
Kaffe Fassett and like designer's corner ... absolute heaven for Diane ... she was pretty darn cute! ;-)
Heaven for the 30's fans ... too good to be true ...
... batik heaven ...
Lodge look heaven...
New Holly Taylor line...
...other new lines on display ...
Their progress on the Minnesota Shop Hop fabric designs...
Another version of the apron quilt I plan to make.
We were totally unprepared to be overwhelmed ... the staff was kind enough to let us stretch the 30 minutes we had to 40 ... I think it was a profitable ten minutes for them ... ;-) !

As we returned to Minneapolis, we talked about the eleven quilt shops we had visited in the past 2.5 days ... they all had something unique to offer ... inspiration ... patterns ... fabric ... designs ... samples ... it is difficult to put in words the impact a shop hop can have on a quilter without it sounding superficial.  But, I can tell you this ... I have enjoyed every shop hop I've ever been on ... whether organized or self imposed ... but there is nothing like doing it with a QBee!  Diane and I began quilting together as twenty-somethings ... we grew as quilters ... our families grew ... our lives have been intertwined for the past 26 years ...  to have her travel here ... to dillydally together through our self-imposed quilt road trip ... it certainly is frosting on the cake of life!

Thanks QBee Diane for a wonderful time!  All you QBees ... whoever and where ever you are ... grab a fellow QBee and take your own dillydally road trip/shop hop ... this kind of frosting is calorie free!  Gotta love that!
