Happy May Day!

4.29.13
We had a sunny day Monday ... after work, Kysa and I decided to look for spring.
4.29.13
Kysa played on the lake ice ... she shows no sign of losing her winter coat ... I wore my mittens.

A small amount of melt must be happening somewhere ... we found a trickle of water coming from this culvert.

Today would have been my mother's 76th birthday!  I loved this time of the year on the farm.  In the craziness of calving, field work, milking and garden planning ...

... we would celebrate her birthday ... it meant that spring had arrived!

Here in my remote corner of the planet ... it snowed all day yesterday.  Although Kysa and I found very few signs of spring ... memories of my mother and all that she represents bring the warmth of spring to my soul.  Happy Birthday Mom!  Happy May Day everyone!  Celebrate by dillydallying!
Do what you love.  Do dillydally!

  1. Beautiful words and pictures.
It is to be 80 degrees today in Ohio. Sun is very welcoming and the sky is a beautiful blue. I think I'll wear shorts to run in this evening!

  2. What a great memory of your Mom. I hope that spring arrives soon at your little corner of the planet! In my little corner, there is a robin nesting in a strawberry plant (in a pot) right on the front porch - that must be a sure sign of spring in Ohio. She has two bright blue eggs and I'm going to try to get her picture for my blog without disturbing her.
