A Huge DillyDally Decision!

I promise...pinky promise...this will be my last post about our time in Oregon.
But you need to understand that ... here in my remote corner of the planet, we are experiencing one of the coldest and wettest summers on record.  Our short week in Oregon, is the only slice of summer we've had!
After the reunion, we traveled to Prineville and visited our friends in their new home!  They are like family here in Alaska, we will miss them when they move permanently next summer!  But at the same time ... we are so happy for them as they enter this new chapter of their lives!  It was fun to see their new home and community!  A wonderful place to live!
The next morning (July 2) we started early and headed for ... yep, you guessed it ... Sisters!
The Stitchin' Post was just as wonderful as I had dreamed it would be!  They were very busy getting ready for their city wide quilt event!  More on that later!
Of course, I found lots of treasure ... books ...
... patterns ...
... a fat quarter pack of (my beloved) polka dots and an Oregon themed wall quilt!  I could have spent the entire day at this shop, but we only had a few days and wanted to explore more of this beautiful state!  From Sisters we drove the back roads and found ourselves in Albany at the end of the day!  Gosh...it was a beautiful day for a gorgeous drive!  Absolutely lovely.
In Albany, we discovered The Quilt Loft!  An amazing little shop in the downtown area!
Found some "new to me" applique' patterns and this scallop tool that I've been looking for ...
... and be still my heart ... these darling barn patterns!

The next morning (July 3) we headed for the coast!
While in Newport, we discovered this sweet shop ... Quilter's Cove.
It had a huge selection of patterns and samples highlighting their regional area!  Loved it!
We walked the beach for a while ... I even got my feet wet!  Love having the surf come up over my feet ... even got the hem of my short pants wet!  It was time to head back to Portland ... we had to be at the airport by 4:00 am the next morning!  On the way back we traveled through McMinneville, I already posted about the quilt shop there ... you can read it here!

We so enjoyed our time in Oregon ...
... the sun and the sage brush ...
... the mountains and forest ...
... the coast ...
... and all that grows there!  We loved the agriculture of all kinds ... everywhere!  I was so inspired by our travels through the back roads of Oregon that I've made a huge decision!

I am planning a QBee Oregon Shop Hop for summer 2015!  And yes...it will include the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show event in Sisters!  I am very familiar with Minnesota and it took me 2 years to plan the MN Shop Hop ... so I am taking three years to plan this one!  I am so excited ... and think about it constantly!  Will keep you posted as plans develop!

Do what you love.  Make big plans.  Do dillydally!

  1. Oh My Golly!!! I will certainly want to meet up with you in Oregon. I won't have to talk Jeff into taking me back to Sisters (or anywhere else in OR) because he loves it so. Please keep us posted. I'm so excited!!!!!

  2. your posts from Oregon have been great . I have really enjoyed them. We are planning next year's holiday as a road trip from Seattle down to California all down the coast , which should be stunning, so i will need to mark off these shops all along the way. Won't be as nice as our tour of Alaska was but your recommendations have really made me want to start my planning now.

  4. Your posts about Oregon are wonderful! Sorry your weather in Alaska has been so cold. Come to Ohio . . . it's 90 and sunny almost every day. We could quilt at Miss Carol's studio and have a great time! If not, we will try for the QBee Oregon Shop Hop!
