Hexie Update!

Between teaching and traveling with students, there has been a very limited amount of dillydallying going on here in dillydallydom.

Mother Nature continues to allow...

... Jack Frost to maintain his residence here in our remote corner of the planet.  We had 6 inches of fresh snow yesterday!  I must admit that it is hard to complain when the view is this beautiful ... but most of us here in Cordova are ready for spring to arrive!

Exactly a month ago, I began my Hexie Adventure.
I love that even though my life has been crazy busy ... when I have only short periods of time ... I can easily pick these up and hand sew a seam or two.
My snoopervisor is always willing to help out!
Flicka likes to rearrange my notions to meet her approval!
Bet you didn't know that hexies make a great "Sit Upon"!
And a second hexie is necessary to use as a "Paw Upon"
Together ... two hexies make a great "Nap Upon"!  Who knew? ;-)
A few dillydally moments here and there ... and a helpful kitty ... can result in a little bit of progress!  Even small amounts of progress feel great!
Do what you love.  Make progress.  Do dillydally!

    1. Jack Frost needs to loose his lease on our remote corner of the planet and let spring move in! ;-) Thanks for the encouragement!

  2. Wow! What a difference in our weather. Here is Ohio, it is 83 degrees and I was sitting on the porch sewing "Christmas" (of all things) hexies and listening to a book on my Kindle. After seeing your sweet spring fabric, I want to change material. They are lovely. Can you sew them together by machine? I have been sewing them together all by hand.

    1. How fun that we've both been working on hexies! I am doing them by hand as well! I have heard about doing them by machine, but have no experience with it. I am also listening to a book on my Ipod...Watership Down. It was a favorite of mine in high school! What are you listening to? Hugs Gladys!

  3. Your hexies are beautiful and Flicka is doing a terrific job taking care of them for you :). Could you please share the size you're doing? They are bigger than I was thinking of making, but I like them a lot. Look like they'll work up quickly which is always a good thing :). Thanks!

    1. My hexies measure 1 inch on the sides...the flower units are about 5 1/4 inch across! The size is easy to work with as they fit comfortably in my hands. Hope this information helps! Good luck! Do dillydally!

  4. Ahh, 1 inch..sounds good. Now that my Orca Bay is mostly together-have the center and outer border parts sewn; now it's waiting until I find just the right fabric for the inner border-I can get started cutting out hexies. Thanks so much!
