Those of you who follow me on Facebook, know that I have been obsessed inspired by "granny square" crochet projects of every kind. When it comes to crochet ... I am very much a beginner ... believe me, I am not being modest!
This little table mat was the last crochet project I shared with you.
I was so pleased with myself, that I went to The Net Loft (my local yarn store) and picked up a skein of navy and white ... to use with the medium blue and red I already had. Yep, I love my country! Red, White and Blue forever!
Love the hexagon shape ... they could be used individually as coasters!
So ... I made a stack of hexes! Now what? Well, I am unwilling to commit to a large project at this point ...
... so another table mat they will become!
This is the down side of granny crochet ... working in all those ends! Because I don't really know what I'm doing, it took a long while. So happy it is a small table runner!
Patriotic confetti! Whew ... that took a lot of effort!
I attached them to one another by hand ... am sure there is a better way to accomplish the same thing with the crochet hook ... I need to find some crochet tutorials before the next project!
Ta - Da! Done! It won't win any awards, but I am pleased with the results! Have no idea what my hook and I will do next ... something will turn up!

as someone who's crocheted since I was 9, I see you are doing an awesome job! I just finished listening to your radio spot from last year on All People Quilt and so glad. will peruse your blog later but just wanted to stop by to say hi! Visited Alaska last August on a cruise - it was breathtaking! I love your blog header pic!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting DillyDallydom! Your kind words are very appreciated! Do dillydally!
ReplyDeleteCraftyminx.com -- she has wonderful free crochet lessons on video, both for left and right handed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the suggestion! I checked craftyminx out and it is a terrific resource! I am so grateful!
ReplyDeleteYour granny squares look great and your stitches look very even for a beginner! I always liked crocheting because it is easy to back up and fix mistakes (unlike knitting), but have not done a project in years. After seeing the crotched hexies that you posted on facebook . . . maybe this winter I'll pick up the hook again.
